I remember the first time my husband and I visited San Juan Island from Kansas. So much beauty astounded us, but nothing more than the majestic Madrona trees that graced the shoreline. The colors, the textures and the variety of their Peeling Bark simply amazed us. Soon after that trip we were blessed to move to the island, and now we enjoy several Madronas in our yard.
After years of building our photography business Michael Bertrand Photography, it was time to “branch out”, and Peeling Bark Designs was born. We sell our artwork online, in several shows and each summer at Roche Harbor Resort’s Artist Village. Our little shop is bursting with COLOR in
Photography, Original Paintings and One of a Kind Jewelry.
I crave Color and Texture, and find that I have always been drawn to images that are somewhat Abstract, whether with photography (my first love), Mixed Media & Textile arts, or Paintings. I’ve finally realized that it’s time to go for what I love!
I hope you enjoy sharing in our journey. Stay tuned for some Functional Works of Art in the near future!
***All of my paintings are ORIGINALS because I want to preserve the interesting textures (and appearance of textures) achieved, which would not be possible in a print.
